Detailed description
Built in 1911 by Blohm & Voss in Hamburg for the F. Laeisz shipping company, the last genuine Cape Horn sailer has since become the maritime landmark of the Baltic resort of Travemünde.
Numerous pictures in the museum area of the ship only give an idea of what it meant to perform one's duties on board a sailing freighter that was highly modern for its time.
The historic tall ship has also long since become firmly established as a meeting place and event venue with numerous overnight accommodations. In addition to conferences and seminars, this maritime beauty is also a popular venue for family celebrations of all kinds. Berths and washrooms are located below deck, and anyone who looks out of the porthole at the beautifully illuminated Travemünde in the evening before falling asleep will feel the real "sailing ship feeling": Because the "Passat" rocks gently in the swell of the Baltic Sea, it is still a real ship.
If you like, listen to a shanty of the Passat choir.
